BOOK DESCRIPTION

Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath. Now she’s returned—to her old life, her family, her boyfriend—before she’s banished back to the underworld . . . this time forever. She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists.

Nikki longs to spend these precious months forgetting the Everneath and trying to reconnect with her boyfriend, Jack, the person most devastated by her disappearance—and the one person she loves more than anything. But there’s just one problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who enticed her to the Everneath in the first place, has followed Nikki home. Cole wants to take over the throne in the underworld and is convinced Nikki is the key to making it happen. And he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back, this time as his queen.

As Nikki’s time on the Surface draws to a close and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole’s queen.

Everneath is a captivating story of love, loss, and immortality from debut author Brodi Ashton.

REVIEW

A senior year school girl has made a bad choice and she is bound to it FOREVER.  A bad decision, at the height of desperation and pain, gone irrepairable and irreversible!  With beautiful and intriguing story-telling, Brodi Ashton gives a mix of mythology and romance to the readers.

Nikki Beckett, was sucked into the Underworld, otherwise known as Everneath, to supply her life source to the immortals (Everlivings).  After six months (100 Everneath years), Nikki still survived and was thrown back to our world on her own wish.  Nikki remembers only very small parts of her world above, and she tries to clean the mess she left behind.  Her family missed her much and her boy-friend, Jack Caputo, is shattered, when she left.  Now, Nikki is back and has to return back to the Everneath after six surface months, Nikki tries to say proper good-byes and is on her way to the search for redemption.  The only problem is Cole, the immortal to whom Nikki has acted as a battery for the past six months in Everneath.  Cole wants Nikki back and may even love her.

The world building is amazing.  Ashton had done the mythology part beautifully.  And the pain and love within Nikki and Jack can be felt very distinctly in the last few pages of the book.  Tha love triagle, Nikki's relationship with her friends and family are well-narrated.  I felt very much attached towards Jack Caputo than Nikki..his love was expressed so deep and wounded, it just hurts.  Nikki broke a beautiful love once.  Now, in her search of redemption, will she be able to say proper good-byes or hurt him once more?  The book doesn't end here.  The author leaves a series of findings on the way and completes the book giving an heartache for the readers.

Somehow, this book doesn't appeal to me, as much as I expected.  I can find no fault with the Ashton's writing.  But it doesn't affect me much, which I always think as essential for the success of a book.  Maybe, the hype about this book was so high or I just finished reading "The Goddess Test" (which is also a similar mythology), I CANNOT list this book as amazing.  If what I felt towards last few pages had lasted for the entire book, this book would have been fabulous!

Maybe this book will make more appeal, as the series progresses.  A good start to the series!

3.5 stars!
