Lady Penelope Annand is a beautiful rich widow. When her very trusted servant maid goes missing, Penelope hires a thief-taker, Pierce Howe, to find the mad. From the first meeting, Penelope and Pierce were physically much attracted towards each other. What started as just a affair, turned into much more. But, both of them do not want to admit their feelings towards each other, for they have a past that they do not wish to share with anyone. Will their past fears occupy them so badly, that they will lose the love in front of them?
The plot and writing was good. Entertaining read! But, I wish the characters were more well-developed. Tortured heroes and heroines need strong, well-developed characters to love the characters more. But, still I loved both Penelope and Pierce, for their stubbornness.
A sweet, historical romance! A novel, that I would recommend for historical romance lovers!
